From Coco Love Alcorn's upcoming new record, an album of all spirit songs. "Good news" is a loose definition of the word "gospel" and this was the first piece she wrote for this spirit song project.
This is a live off the floor performance with my RC 505 looper. Woot! Looping is fun! @cocolovealcorn

Mo Kenney's cover of Mardeen's "Telephones" tells of a conflicted romance, and the newly unveiled video for the In My Dreams track shows the story play out with a lifeless mannequin. In the quirky, charming clip, we see the Nova Scotia songwriter strumming her guitar and delivering the lyrics directly into the camera as she moves between various domestic locations. She's joined by a mannequin, which isn't a particularly flattering way to portray a lover, but that's probably the point. "Mo has a great sense of humour and was game for everything. It was important she played the song believably, from the heart, to counterbalance the absurd presence of the mannequins," director Nathan Boey said in a statement. "I'm not really interested in making straight-up 'normal' videos, which is why I'm always looking to inject some sort of visual magic or playfulness." In My Dreams is out now via Pheremone Recordings/New Scotland Records. "That Old Feeling" Coco Love Alcorn performed this last night at Hugh’s Room to a packed house. A few hours later, they did this off-the-cuff performance as the staff was cleaning glasses and chatting in the background. Thank you David Matheson, Jason Fowler and Maurey Lafoy for the sweet harmonies!!
And thank you John McDermott for having me as a guest on a couple of your Christmas concerts this year. What a blast! David Myles has released a new animated music video to accompany his original song "Santa Never Brings Me A Banjo” from his album, It’s Christmas. Producer Scott Simpson, art director veteran Murray Bain, and the gang at Copernicus Animation Studios in Halifax captured the essence of the song with a playful video that will appeal to fans young and old. "SantaNever Brings Me a Banjo" combines the clever lyricism David is known for and the traditional roots sound of a bluegrass song. Along with this new video, David is posting recipes and ring tones, creating Christmas cards and other fun features on his website daily, as part of the David Myles advent calendar. This is an exciting project, with a new surprise every day leading up to Christmas. Check out the video for “Santa Never Brings Me A Banjo" and the advent calendar at www.davidmyles.com. |
