VANCOUVER’S WOODEN HORSEMEN DELIVER THEIR SIGNATURE BLUES/ROCK WITH NEW SINGLE “LIES” IN ADVANCE OF NEW RECORD, 'PAST LIVES'

“The songs remain embedded in the Folk and Blues that coloured the band’s 2013 debut album, Wooden Horsemen. But they also exude an open-mindedness, making full use of the now seven-piece studio outfit’s ability to play fun and danceable horn music.” The Georgia Straight

Wooden Horsemen's 'Past Lives' stands both as a fiery testament to the gospel spirit of the American South and an intimate acknowledgement of the relationship between music and spirituality.

Influenced by the discovery of Alan Lomax's 'American Patchwork' series, tracks such as 'I've Been Changed' and 'You Better Mind' aim to harness the raw spirit of gospel all while maintaining the band's signature modern rock n' roll sound.

Swampy, sweaty and downright dirty blues lay the foundation for ethereal harmonies and a blazing horn section, resulting in a gritty, powerful and ultimately unforgettable live experience.

Wooden Horsemen has been a constant on the Western Canadian festival circuit since the release of ‘Sentient’ in 2016, and the band looks forward to hitting the road once again with the release of ‘Past Lives’ in November of 2018.

Vancouver's Wooden Horsemen have gone through a full transformation since their introduction to the scene as a folk 3-piece in 2013. Singers Steven Beddall and Missy Cross's woven harmonies remain at the core of the band's sound, however the foundation has shifted from delicate acoustic strings to a brassy, electric 7-piece blues-rock outfit.

Their forthcoming album, Past Lives, stands both as a fiery testament to the American South, and an acknowledgement of the intimate relationship between music and spirituality. Influenced by Alan Lomax's 'American Patchwork' series, tracks such as "I've Been Changed" and "You Better Mind" aim to harness the raw spirit of gospel while maintaining the band's signature modern rock n' roll sound.  Swampy, sweaty and downright dirty blues mix with ethereal harmonies and a blazing horn section, resulting in a gritty, powerful, and ultimately unforgettable live experience.

2016's EP Sentient  gained attention within the Canadian college radio circuit and charted in CBC Radio 3's Top 20 for four weeks following its release, as the band became a staple in Western Canada's festival circuit. This past summer saw them team up with award winning filmmaker Darcy Turenne to create a playful video for "Lies",  the first single of the new album due September 7th, 2018.

The band has been steadily building its reputation as a force to be reckoned with, and continue the journey with the release of “Past Lives” November 2nd, 2018.
