PFS NEW VENUE PRESENTS MONTHLY PERFORMANCES

[Aug 29, 2019 - PHILADELPHIA] The Philadelphia Folk Festival closed out last weekend with a memorable set from David Crosby and Friends, after a jam-packed weekend filled with music, friends and community. The historic 58th annual event took place in Upper Salford Township, on the Old Pool Farm, Aug 15-18, and according to fans, attendees and festival volunteers, PFF was “stellar” and “gets better every year!”

Next year, the 59th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival (PFF) will take place Aug 13-16, 2020 in Upper Salford Township, PA. Known to present superstars and rising stars alike, plans for the 2020 summertime extravaganza are well underway, and tickets are already available for purchase HERE. Philly Folk Fest is unique in that it is presented by a non-profit arts education organization, the Philadelphia Folksong Society, and is operated with the help of over 2,000 dedicated volunteers with upwards of 35,000 folks attending yearly.

The 2019 festival presented more than 90 artists, including acts from England, Scotland, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, South Korea, and Israel on 8 stages over 4 nights. Highlights included David Crosby, Amanda Shires, The Mavericks, Margo Price, Yola, Talisk and many more.

Festival and Programming Director, Lisa Schwartz, says of the 58th festival “I am simply ecstatic with how this festival came together musically with our US artists sharing the stage with artists from across the globe proving once again that music is the universal language.  So many folks approached me, both first time attendees and long time Fest-goers, to tell me that this was the festival of the dreams.”

First timer R. Croce wrote on the facebook page: “My wife and I had a blast. It was our first one and I am left wondering what took me so long, lol. See you next year for sure!”

Tell us your experience at #PFF58 by filling out our post festival survey. As a festival, we are always looking to improve the experience, so if you have feedback you would like to share, please visit HERE. Everyone who completes the survey is automatically entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to either #PFF59 or a pair of tickets to an upcoming PFS Venue show.

David Crosby gifts PFF with Martin DX WOODSTOCK 50th Guitar
C.F. Martin & Company, who have been sponsors of the Philadelphia Folk Festival since the very first festival in 1962, created a special edition guitar to honor the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock. When Martin Guitar CEO Chris Martin heard David Crosby was performing at PFF, he immediately called Festival and Programming Director, Lisa Schwartz with an idea to gift Mr. Crosby one of these guitars at PFF. When Lisa presented Mr. Crosby with the guitar, after his stunning set Sunday evening, Mr. Crosby replied...You are doing a good thing here; sell the guitar and use the money to make it even better.”

PFF is considering options for the guitar, and will announce shortly. The DX Woodstock 50th Anniversary model includes colorful custom artwork by Robert F. Goetzl that replicates elements from the original, famed 1969 festival poster. This X Series D-14 model produces the rich, dynamic sound and look that made Martin the choice of many artists who played at Woodstock. It pairs an HPL top with rosewood-patterned HPL back and sides and includes Fishman® electronics. This model also includes certified sustainable wood parts.
