Irish Mythen to Open for Melissa Etheridge in Australia

(HALIFAX, NS) -- Singer-songwriter Irish Mythen returns to Australia in March to open for the legendary Melissa Etheridge, then hits the road back home in Canada for a tour of the East Coast.

Irish is just back from an Aussie three month tour, from November - January, where she appeared as part of the Australian Festival of Small Halls, Australian Music Week, Mullum Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Illawarra Folk Festival.

About supporting Melissa Etheridge for her upcoming March dates, Irish states, “I am beside myself with excitement and awe.  I have been a fan for years of not only her song-writing but of her strength and principles.”

​The invitation to open her shows came as a very happy surprise. “Bluesfest director Peter Noble approached my Australian management after an Australian Music Week showcase in November,” she explained, “and asked if I would be interested in returning to Australia in March for Bluesfest.  This was followed by an invitation to join the Melissa Etheridge tour for select dates.  Amazing.”

First though, Irish will focus her attention on the Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City, MO this month, where she will be an international Panelist and an official Showcase Artist.  Then she kicks off an 11 date tour of Eastern Canada beginning with a performance on March 4 at The Mack in Charlottetown, PE.
