![]() Nadine and Sammy cover a lot of musical territory, from Cajun to early country to traditional old time: (…) it all works. — Alice Gerrard, Old Time Herald I believe in her when she’s a 19th Century swamp girl singing cajun songs, I believe in her when she charms me with her playful classic country songs. Nadine Landry was born and raised in a musical family on the Gaspe Peninsula on the east coast of Quebec. Equally comfortable on guitar and upright bass, she has leant her talents to various bands ranging from old time to honky tonk to swing and Cajun. Described as deeply passionate and powerful, her voice has been capturing the hearts of fans across North America, Ireland, England, Scandinavia and Australia. Born in Minnesota, Stephen “Sammy” Lind has established himself as one of the most critically acclaimed old time fiddle players in the country. Co-founder of the Oregon based Foghorn Stringband, Stephen has traveled the world playing and teaching a vast repertoire of tunes from Appalachia and the Midwest. His playing reflects tremendous respect and passion for all the fiddle players and old recordings he spent countless hours learning from. Together they play fiddle tunes, early country and Cajun songs. Their recording “Granddad’s Favorite” reflects their versatility in genres and instrumentation. Alternating between fiddle, banjo, guitar and accordion, they play true to the roots of American music with energy and respect. They are members of the Foghorn Stringband, the Cajun Country Revival and have collaborated with countless musicians in the old time, cajun and bluegrass worlds. Newfoundland and Labrador Route The Newfoundland and Labrador Route is a project of Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous, presenting Canadian and international artists to audiences in Newfoundland and Labrador.. After many years setting up house concert tours in Ontario and points west, Home Routes was inspired to offer its program on the east coast while attending Nova Scotia Music Week in 2017. After the conference, Home Routes put out a call for hosts in order to create a community of house concerts on the East Coast. The call was met enthusiastically and the Newfounldand and Labrador Route was born. Home Routes’ programming emphasizes artistic excellence, and diverse and entertaining performances that leave audiences breathless and wanting more. About House Concerts: House concerts have a triple function: they support artists’ ability to make a living, they make music accessible on a grassroots level to all corners of Canada, and they connect people -- a social engine that builds community. Home Routes/ Chemin Chez Nous would like to thank our funders and partners for their support. This project is made possible in part by The Canada Council for the Arts, Manitoba Sport, Culture and Heritage, FACTOR, Manitoba Arts Council and SOCAN Foundation.
