TORONTO, ON (January 5, 2016) – Multiple East Coast Music Awards winner Chris Colepaugh and his namesake band, The Cosmic Crew announced their anticipated new album “RnR” will be released on January 29th both physically and digitally via Chris Colepaugh and The Cosmic Crew. The first studio release in six years, “RnR” pays homage to the stripped down rock and roll of years past, but with modern touches, “muscular guitars and melodic rock riffs.” (John Mayer – Twangville.com). Fans can pre-order the album now at iTunes.
Blending equal parts southern-inspired rock with a heavy dose of the blues, Moncton, NB’s Chris Colepaugh and The Cosmic Crew have rightfully earned a reputation for crowd-pleasing, hard-driving rock. The multiple award-winning group, fronted by guitar virtuoso Colepaugh, has spent more than two decades actively touring Canada and the United States, supporting acts including Gov’t Mule, The North Mississippi All Stars, and Big Sugar with their show-stealing sets.
Colepaugh – praised by fans and media across North America, is the humble recipient of numerous accolades, and deservedly earned sponsorships from music industry heavyweights Gibson Guitars, Traynor Amplifiers and Sennheiser Microphones. His work as part of Roch Voisine’s band over the last six years has undoubtedly exposed his talent to tens of thousands of fans across Canada and Europe and set the stage for Colepaugh’s excitement to craft a record he would be eager to listen to as a fan.
The follow-up to 2010’s “Missed A Page”, the much-anticipated “RnR” is an electrifying testament to the range and depth of guitarist/producer/songwriter/vocalist Chris Colepaugh’s artistry and the cohesiveness of his fiery live band (The Cosmic Crew). Adapting an inverse approach to the making of the album, Colepaugh, set to work with an idea and process that proved to be a sharp contrast to previous Chris Colepaugh and The Cosmic Crew albums. “I’ve loved the eclectic nature of our previous albums and how they showcased an acoustic side of the band as well as a more rock-driven side. With this album, I had a clear vision of what I wanted right from the outset, which is to make a straight-ahead rock and roll record.”
The result is an album that is edgy, inventive, uncompromising and in the end – lives up to its title. Intermittently recorded over a one-year period, “RnR” is an album that Colepaugh says, “is perhaps most representative of the band’s stage and studio abilities.” From the punk-inspired guitar riff that drives “The Ghosts,” a faithful cover of “When My Baby’s Beside Me,” and album opener “Stateless,” “RnR” delivers – checking all of the requisite boxes for a great rock and roll record.
