[Halifax] In partnership with the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Scout Camp presents Beats ‘n Boats, a high-flying evening of music, art, and cabaret-style circus performance set among the sails of the Small Craft Gallery. The event will take place on Friday, March 30th, with doors opening at 8pm. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 2nd and are available, starting at 10am, at Ticket Halifax.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Halifax Circus Circle. This program assists troubled youth to better their lives through the discipline and self-confidence that come with developing and mastering circus skills such as juggling, unicycling and balance work, aerials, acrobatics and more. The teachers share their joy of performing and help youth learn in a safe and supportive environment.

"Halifax Circus is delighted to be associated (again!) with Scout Camp,” said Mike Hirschbach, Artistic Director at Halifax Circus. “Their combination of music and aerials has been a great complement for our circus work on several occasions, and we couldn't be more thrilled and grateful that they are supporting our youth outreach program by donating proceeds from this very cool event. We're so happy to see Beats ‘n Boats returning for a second year to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic...let the frolic and festivities begin!"

Beats ‘n Boats will present Kamphyre’s Offshore Cabaret, featuring circus performers from Scout Camp and Halifax Circus twirling to the beats of local electronic music producers Dezza and Cloverdale, flying from the aerial rigging, luring the audience into their watery world with wild spinning dives through fluttering fabrics, and stunning them with fantastical flips and flexibility. The evening will open up with a performance by local songwriting duo Aloysius. Wasko AV will be “on deck” projecting his unique digital art onto the collection of antique boats, their sails and the natural features of the museums architecture, providing surreal yet gorgeous visual stimulation to the evening’s aquatic atmosphere.

The bar will exclusively feature locally brewed beer by Good Robot and locally distilled spirits by Compass Distillery. And for all of the wanna-be mermaids out there, Master Redken hair stylists Gregory Kennedy and Barrett Wombaldt from Vitality Medi Spa will be providing complimentary hair braiding throughout the evening.

Tickets are $30.00 + HST, and go on sale Friday, March 2, 2018 at 10am Atlantic Time. Purchase at .tickethalifax.com.
