Canadian singer-songwriter Desirée Dawson is pleased to announce the release of her debut full length album “Wild Heart”, available everywhere February 24th via Vintage Currency Music. This is the first offering from Dawson, a 26-year-old Surrey, BC native who quickly garnered national attention when she was named the winner of CBC Music’s Searchlight Competition last May. Already released, the lead single and title-track from “Wild Heart” is currently climbing the CBC Radio 2 Top 20 chart.

With a musicality so layered and complex, Dawson was chosen from over 2000 musical acts in CBC Music’s Searchlight Competition – an annual search for the best undiscovered voice in Canada. Strumming her faithful ukulele all the way to the top, Dawson amazed the judges and audience (in studio and at home) with a stunning performance of “Hide” during the finale – a national prime-time broadcast last spring.
A rich concoction self-penned by Dawson, “Wild Heart” is a strikingly beautiful album that combines honest lyricism, humble talent and an eclectic mix of musical instruments from Dawson’s signature ukulele to the piano and violin. An impassioned lyricist, Dawson deeply believes in the powerful impact music can have on connection and healing, and how it can shift and shape a person’s mood, day and interactions with themselves and others. Drawing inspiration from a wide array of artists and styles, her rundown of her most listened to artists is varied and diverse, and she credits Des’ree, Natalie Cole, Adele, Lauryn Hill and Beyoncé as just a few of her musical influences growing up.

Dawson has notably been featured in Canadian Musician magazine as well as the December issue of CBC Music magazine alongside some of Canada’s most prominent artists.
