About T. Buckley
T. Buckley is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has become a staple in the Alberta roots music scene. Over his 10 year career he has released four albums, topped radio charts, sold out shows across western Canada, held down a four-year weekly residency at one of Calgary’s best live music venues, and garnered recognition in songwriting competitions everywhere, most recently Kerrville International Songwriters Competition in Texas.
Buckley’s fifth album, Miles We Put Behind, will be released October 19th 2018. Inspired by the music of Guy Clark, James McMurtry and Lyle Lovett, Buckley recorded the album at Hotel2Tango, a 24-track analogue recording studio in Montreal. Grammy-winning musician, engineer, and producer Howard Bilerman (former drummer for Arcade Fire with over 400 production credits (including Leonard Cohen) produced the album. Acclaimed musicians include: Matthew Woodley (Percussion), Mike O’Brien (Guitar, Vocals), Josh Toal (Bass, Vocals), Max Henry (Keys), Lisa Crawley (Keys - Least A Man Could Do), Katie Moore (Vocals), Chloe Albert (Vocals), Fats Kaplin (Mandolin, Pedal Steel).
Miles We Put Behind represents Buckley’s first foray into co-writing. He teamed up with some industry greats at the Banff Centre and in Nashville: Grammy-winner Don Henry (Ray Charles, Conway Twitty, Miranda Lambert and more), John Wort Hannam (JUNO nomination, Canadian Folk Music Award).
The first two singles from the album represent Buckley’s writing style well - character sketches with playful storytelling. Song Unbroken is about coming into parenthood for the first time, with themes of hope and journey. And Twilight Diner is about the interesting characters we’ve all met and seen at late-night truck stops and cafés - the diner can become a salvation, a coming-together place, for people on the margins of society. T. Buckley will support the album release with a Western Canadian tour in October and November 2018.
